Marius Gyorke - Reghin, Romania

Marius Gyorke was born on the 20th of April 1973 in Reghin, Romania.

His passion for modelling the wood appeared at the age of 7 when he started to build ships at a club for children. When he was 14 years old, Marius followed his passion by repairing quitars for friends and by designing his first electric guitar which was finished when he was 16 years old.

He was accepted at a woodcrafting high school in Targu Mures, Romania in 1987. His specialty was sculpture and he graduated in 1991. After graduating, he began to work for different trade societies and in different regions until 1997 when he was hired at S.C. GLIGA INSTR. Here he was able to transfer his woodworking skills into violin making.

After Marius stopped working at S.C. Gliga Instr, he begun working both on his own and at S.C GYL S.R.L. This trade society was making stringed instruments as well.

In 2004 Marius began working exclusively with violin making, further honing his craft in making violins, violas, and cellos, using various models including Stradivari, Guarneri, Guadagnini, and Da Salo.

At the moment, Marius is building his violin-family instruments hoping that his pieces of work would satisfy the desires of musicians and the pleasure of listeners.

"This is my little story. Anyway, it is not important what it is said about me, but the way my musical instruments are being appreciated."

Marius' instruments are eligible for the StringWorks trade-in program.
